Son Of A Judge

Ohio Disciplinary Counsel has filed a complaint alleging misconduct by a judge who has been on the bench for 39 years.

The allegations involve posts on his Facebook page, which identifies him as a judicial officer.

His son, who was serving as Law Director for the City of Wilmington, was a candidate for a munipal court seat that unexpectedly was vacant after the sitting judge had died.

Another person was appointed to the seat and then defeated the son in the election.

The allegations relate to the judge’s public endorsement of his son’s candicacy on Facebook, primarily by linking to posts of others that favored the son.

The son’s Facebook page “tagged” Respondent so that the son’s posts – allegedly with Respondent’s consent – appeared on his Facebook page.

Shortly before election day, Facebook restricted the son’s page for alleged violations of community standards; Respondent posted a screenshot of the son’s page and a comment suggesting a free speech restriction

Odd this would occur just before election day and without just cause.

Later that day, Respondent made a lengthy post mostly in defense of his son. (Mike Frisch)
