Whatever Happened To Jeffrey Clark?
On July 22, 2022, District of Columbia Disciplinary Counsel filed a Specification of Charges alleging that former Department of Justice attorney Jeffrey Bossert Clark engaged in conduct involving dishonesty and that seriously interfered with the administration of justice in his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election.
In my view, the case is the singularly most significant ethics prosecution in the history of the D.C. Bar.
On October 21, 2022, his counsel filed a notice of removal to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.
On that same date, Disciplinary Counsel filed an opposition contending that the federal court lacks subject matter jurisdiction over state bar attorney discipline matters.
Since then, crickets.
There is no indication that the District Court has acted on the removal attempt.
Thus, for going on seven months, the proceedings are on hold.
This delay ill serves the significant public interest in an adjudication of the merits of these charges.
