A Death In Quincy

On June 17, 2022, the respondent pled guilty in the Quincy District Court to motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, a misdemeanor. G.L. c. 90, § 24G(b). The respondent’s conduct involved his driving through an intersection in Quincy, Massachusetts and fatally striking a pedestrian. The incident occurred in the early afternoon of August 15, 2020. The respondent was driving below the speed limit at the time of the accident. He was not impaired by any drugs or alcohol, nor was he distracted by a mobile phone or any other device. After the accident, the respondent remained on the scene, fully cooperated with the responding officers, and voluntarily met with the investigating officers for an interview. He was sentenced to 1-year of probation with a 15-year loss of his driver’s license.
