The Adult In The Room
Ohio Disciplinary Counsel has filed a complaint alleging criminal misconduct by an attorney admitted in 1999.
Respondent had developed a close relationship with two friends of his spouse’s daughter (“T.B.”), who “considered [him] as her father for much of her life.”
The three met when T.B. was 15 and a freshman on her high school track team.
C.P. was one of those friends; she was 18 and Respondent was 45. C.P. had expressed an interest in attending culinary school.
While they were alone at his home, Respondent “taught C.P. how to make his ‘famous’ truffle macaroni and cheese.”
He allegedly gave her alcohol and touched her shoulders or the small of her back.
C.P. became uncomfortable and contacted T.B. who came to the home. He gave T.B. (age 15) alcoholic drinks.
The other friend B.R. then came over the home. Respondent allegedly made her drink alcohol as “punishment” for earlier giving alcohol to T.B.
B.R. and C.P. became sick; Respondent took C.P. to the basement bathroom while T.B. took B.R. to the upstairs bathroom.
After several trips between the two bathrooms, T.B. saw Respondent and C.P. in physical contact and him saying “Do you know all the things I could do to you right now?”
He then carried C.P. to a couched and “spooned” her.
B.R. ended up in a hospital with a severe kidney infection.
Several months later, the three girls reported the incident to law enforcement.
Respondent was convicted of three sealed misdemeanors.
The spouse divorced him and reported the convictions to Disciplinary Counsel. (Mike Frisch)
