Where The Money Is (And The Firearms)

A recent complaint filed by Ohio Disciplinary Counsel alleges

Between January 22, 2019 and January 26, 2019, respondent entered his parent’s home while they were away and accessed their safe, stole three firearms, and took one of their blank checks.

Soon after the theft, a third party attempted to cash the check, but was unsuccessful due to a hold placed on the account by respondent’s parents.

The three firearms were later recovered by law enforcement from a local pawn shop.

Criminal charges led to a guilty plea

On September 18, 2020, respondent pled guilty to Attempt Grand Theft, as a felony of the fourth degree in violation of R.C. 2923.02(A) as it relates to 2913.02(A)(1), and to Safecracking as a felony of the fourth degree in violation of R.C. 2911.31(A).
