Reprimand For Misdemeanors

Two misdemeanor convictions have led to a reprimand by the Michigan Attorney Discipline Board Tri-County Hearing Panel.

The Monroe News reported

A Monroe County assistant prosecutor, who reportedly was riding a motorcycle while drunk during the summer, has been charged formally and has resigned his position.

Ronald Benore has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Both are misdemeanors. Benore reportedly was carrying a pistol at the time of the incident. (See news report)

The charges were filed by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office, which was appointed special prosecutor.

In the meantime, Benore has resigned from the Monroe County Prosecutor’s Office, where he represented the people of Monroe County for seven years. Chief Prosecutor Michael G. Roehrig said Benore signed a separation agreement. Reached by telephone, Benore declined to comment.
