Cash Withdrawal Draws Suspension

A North Carolina attorney has been suspended by consent on an interim basis and charged with misconduct in connection with a conviction for misdemeanor larceny.

It was a crime of opportunity.

According to the charges, one Robert Jeffreys had dropped his wallet while going through a security checkpoint at the Wake County Courthouse.

The wallet contained $1,600 in cash.

The attorney found the wallet and returned it to another security checkpoint, saying he had found it in a bathroom.

The returned wallet was considerably lighter having been stripped of the legal tender.

He pled guilty to the criminal charges. (Mike Frisch)
