Matching Error On D.C. Bar Results

An unfortunate error is acknowledged on the web page of the District of Columbia Bar

NOTICE REGARDING THE JULY 2018
BAR EXAMINATION RESULTS

November 13, 2018

The Office of the Committee on Admissions, in recording some of the scores for the July 2018 exam, mismatched some applicants and their scores. This error was caught as individual score reports were being prepared, but unfortunately was not caught before the pass list was posted on our website.

The error affected only examinees who sat for the written portion (MEE/MPT) alone, under D.C. Court of Appeals Rule 46(c)(10)(B). No examinee who sat for the entire exam (the two-day Uniform Bar Examination) or who sat just for the MBE was erroneously listed as passing or erroneously omitted from the pass list.

Because of this error, thirteen applicants who did not pass were included on the list of passing applicants. Twelve applicants who passed the exam were omitted from the list. These individuals and all applicants who failed the exam will have an opportunity to review their exams.

The Committee has notified or is in the process of notifying each applicant whose pass/fail status was reported in error. The updated pass list is posted below. We profoundly regret this error, apologize to all who have been affected, and are taking the steps necessary to remedy it as quickly as possible. We are conducting a thorough review to understand exactly what happened and make sure this does not happen again.

Examinees with questions may contact the Admissions Director at 202-879-2714 or at coa@dcappeals.gov.
