WHAM Rochester reported on a prison sentence meted out to a former public defender

Adam Rissew, a former Monroe County public defender, was sentenced to 60 months in prison after authorities found more than 50 marijuana plants and guns in his Medina apartment.

The 39-year-old, who now lives in Rochester, admitted that he used the pistol to protect his marijuana growing operation.

The loaded Glock 9mm semi automatic pistol was hidden between a mattress and box springs.

He was recently disbarred by the New York Appellate Division for the Fourth Judicial Department.
