Bloch Sanctioned And Reinstated

The District of Columbia Court of Appeals has imposed reciprocal discipline on Scott J. Bloch.

The former Special Counsel to the U.S. Office of Special Counsel had been sanctioned in California as a result of a misdemeanor conviction

The Court (Associate Judge Thompson and Senior Judges Ferren and Farrell) imposed a one-year suspension with all but 30 days stayed and probation for two years as reciprocal discipline based on the California action.

The court further reinstated Bloch to practice in the District of Columbia as he had fully served the 30 days pursuant to an order of interim suspension.

The court dismissed Bar Counsel’s independent investigation into whether the misdemeanor conviction involved moral turpitude on its facts or warranted other final discipline,

The same division of the court imposed reciprocal discipline in five other matters. (Mike Frisch)
