The New Jersey Appellate Division affirmed a $700,000 judgment against an attorney and law firm on behalf of one plaintiff but reversed a $250,000 judgment for a second plaintiff.

The allegations involved the “allegedly improper release of the passport of [the plaintiff who prevailed daughter’s] United States passport to her mother… during the prelude of contentious matrimonial proceedgs between [plaintiff] and [the mother].”

The lawsuit “alleged that [the mother] used the pasport in 2005 to ‘abduct’ [the child] and bring her to Spain, where the child remains with her maternal grandparents, beyond the reach of her father.”
