A Distant Tennis-Playing Cousin

An attorney who made misrepresentations in a visa petition that was filed on behalf of her Bahamian client to play in professional tennis tournaments in the United States has been suspended for 91 days by the Florida Supreme Court.

The attorney is of Bahamian descent and is a “distant cousin” of the client.

The misrepresentations related to the attorney’s claim to represent the United States Tennis Association and was petitioning for a visa on behalf of the USTA. She also printed the name of a USTA employee on the application form.

The referee has recommended a 10-day suspension. (Mike Frisch)
