A district court judge who improperly intervened in a petition for a protective order filed on behalf of his niece has been publicly censured by the Louisiana Supreme Court. He used his judicial position to advance the niece’s matter. The judge also did not respond truthfully to the inquiry into his conduct. Eventually, he was forthcoming about his role.
Justice Victory concurred in the result, but thought that the misconduct was not as serious as the majority opinion indicated. (Mike Frisch)
