Disbarment Not Warranted

The Minnesota Supreme Court imposed an indefinite suspension with the right to seek reinstatement after a minimum of twelve months in a matter involving neglect of eight client matters over a two-year period, failure to communicate with clients, false statements to clients, a false statement under oath and failure to cooperate in the disciplinary matter. The attorney had previously been disbarred by the North Dakota Supreme Court. The court here stated that disbarment based on the North Dakota sanction was an “option” but noted that the Director had advised that reciprocal disbarment would not be sought. Noting that it was not bound by the Director’s position, the court concluded that disbarment is “not warranted at this time.” (Mike Frisch)
