Court Disbars Lawyer Who Did Not Present Evidence
The Georgia Supreme Court disbarred an attorney who had been the subject of a bar investigation initiated when three checks written on his trust account bounced. He explained that the bounced checks were the result of thefts by an employee, but did not thereafter did not participate in the proceedings. He was served by publication and had earlier acknowleged that he was aware of the proceedings. The court did not consider his explanation because he had not presented evidence at the bar hearing.
