From NTV Nebraska.com:

An Independence attorney who used money from a murdered children’s memorial fund to invest in his own company has been disbarred.

The Missouri Supreme Court last week found Kent Desselle guilty of multiple violations of the rules of professional conduct that govern attorneys.

Prosecutors allege he helped Tina Porter set up the Sam and Lindsey Support Center in honor of Porter’s two children, who were killed by their father.

But Desselle used about $20,000 from the fund to invest in his company, New Century Investments. And in November, Desselle agreed to return $560,000 to a woman whose savings authorities say he lost in a different investment scheme.

Tina Porter has said the money Desselle used from the memorial fund has been returned.
