Lethal Injection Procedure Upheld

The Supreme Court has decided that the procedures used in Kentucky for execution by lethal injection do not violate the Constitutional prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. Executions had been placed on hold nationwide pending this decision. There are a number of concurring opinions, the most interesting of which (on a fast first read) appears to be Justice Scalia’s sharp and personal criticism of the views of Justice Stevens.
