May a lawyer disclose cofidential information to the personal representative of a deceased client? Yes, if the attorney believes that disclosure would further the clients’ interests, accoding to a recent ethics opinion from Maine.  Otherwise, disclosure is permissible only if the personal representative obtains a court order requiring disclosure of the information.
