A Bad Day For Jeffrey Clark
A District of Columbia Hearing Committee that presides over the Jeffrey Clark bar discipline matter has issued an opinion to the Board on Professional Responsibility recommending that the Board deny Clark’s request to defer the proceeding pending resolution of the Georgia criminal charges and Office of Special Counsel investigation.
The recommendation concludes that the criminal proceedings will not help resolve material issues in the bar case (although a finding of guilt may fast track an eventual sanction) and that the effect of granting deferral will lead to significant delay of uncertain length.
Disciplinary Counsel just filed notice that the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit denied Clark’s motion to stay the order denying his effort to remove the case to federal court.
The USCA order was signed by Circuit Judges Henderson, Pillard and Pan.
