Same-Sex Health Care Benefits Upheld

The New York Court of Appeals has affirmed the dismissal of claims brought by taxpayers that had challenged directives that had recognized the provision of public employee health insurance benefits to same-sex couples married in other states and Canada: “the legislative history supports the view that the President of the Civil Service Commission was deliberately given broad discretion to define who will qualify for coverage.” (Mike Frisch)
